We run the Klamath from March through October. Spring time flows can be from 10-15,000 cfs with huge waves and monster eddies that will get your heart pumping as you paddle past a giant hole that nobody in their right mind would attempt. In the Summer as the river drops, the rapids become more technical requiring precise maneuvering; there is more time to relax, float in your life jacket between rapids and enjoy the scenery. And the river is absolutely beautiful in Autumn, with Fall colors you wouldn’t believe; we’d have the river to ourselves!

The Klamath is well known for its salmon and steelhead fishing, during some seasons you can watch them roll or jump right next to the boat. One of North America’s most diverse ecosystems, the Klamath will offer you a chance to see bears, bald eagles, osprey, blue and green herons, mergansers, wood ducks, wild geese, river otters, mink, the shy fisher, turtles and maybe the ever elusive bigfoot.

River Country’s headquarters and private camp are located on the river ¼ mile downstream from Indian Creek river access in Happy Camp, facing Curley Jack rapid. Everything you see on the river you can see from our private camp. Guests have a choice of camping on the river as we raft down the beautiful Klamath, at our private riverside beach camp here at our headquarters, or we can arrange motel lodging for your nights here in Happy Camp.
