The Klamath Wilderness offers a setting bountiful with natural wonders and the indefinable magic of wilderness.

“Craggy heights, towering upward from amid deep, dark forests of evergreens- unfrequented lakes hemmed in by walls of rock- nameless and untrodden valleys, where the deer, bear and elk still roam in all their native freedom- wild and foaming streams, winding downward from their native tarns, now plunging over steep and rocky cliffs, forming lofty cascades, whose voices awaken the echoes far and near, and again winding in solemn murmurs through the deep recesses of the mountains.... and valley glade and glen robed in a mantel of verdure, in which are mingled the choicest of wildflowers.”
I.J. Reynolds, December 1, 1875
(P.s. and the fishing is great!)

Very little has changed in these mountains since this quote was written. It was protected as a wilderness area in 1939. The landscape, scenery and solitude you can experience here are enough to last a lifetime.

horse assisted backpackingIf you have never visited the wilderness, and are reluctant to do so for a variety of reasons or if you have been to the wilderness but no longer want to carry the 40-50 pounds it takes to go for a week, then you may want to consider a horse assisted lightweight backpacking trip.

The groups are small in size and we utilize only one or two pack animals to minimize impact on the environment. Ultra light means you carry around 20 pounds of gear and walk 3-6 miles in. The horse will carry about 20 pounds per person.

The outside world is our life. Besides spending 30-40 days/year in the wilderness, we are on the river about 100 days each season and are avid rock climbers. We are knowledgeable about the natural history in the wilderness and on the river. On these pack trips you will learn how to safely travel into the wilderness as well as the skills and techniques (like trip planning) to enable you venture on your own.

We provide all the gear (sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent and backpack) as well as all the food for the length of the trip which can be anywhere from 3-7 days. We can customize the trip for your abilities, needs, time or you can book on a pre-scheduled trip.

We can also assit you on your own trip with gear only drop offs at your destination.  (Then you can bring all  the good stuff!)
